Dear Secretary Haaland,

I’m pleading with you to stop the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) plan for the brutal removal of wild horses and burros from public lands. I’m one of a growing number of people calling for a halt to cattle allocations to give time for the development of a solid, scientific analysis of the actual damage done by cattle to federal lands.

The BLM proposals intend to permanently and drastically reduce wild populations of horses and burros. The Biden Administration’s budget plan allows for 90,000 wild equines to be sent to holding facilities at a cost of $1 billion in taxpayer money over five years. As we have seen in the past, rounded up horses are often slaughtered.

Please reject this plan and join us in advocating for a more equitable allocation of land that includes sustaining a thriving population of wild equines.
